Florence Parks If you want to relax and take in some colour and beautiful scenery try one of Florence's parks and historical gardens. A few have been selected below. Parco delle Cascine - Cascine Park The land for the park was purchased by Archduke Alessandro in the mid 15th century. Giardino dell'Iris - Iris Garden The Iris Garden is located where Viale dei Colli opens into Piazzale Michelangelo. Giardino delle Rose - Rose Garden The Rose Garden was designed by Giuseppe Poggi in 1865. The garden is located on a hill side offering scenic views of Florence. Giardini di Boboli - Boboli garden The Boboli Gardens were designed for the Medici family after they purchased the Pitti Palace. The gardens were first opened to the public in 1766 and are a fine example of Renaissance gardening. The San Lorenzo Gardens are located with in the grounds of the Basilica di San Lorenzo and are a small walled cloister garden.
