Florence Shopping
Italy is home to some of the world's best designers, Gucci, Armani, Prada and Ferragamo and Florence, Tuscany, is famous as a fashion centre.
Many Italian products are world famous for their quality and style, and prices can be reasonable.
Shops are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3:30 or 4 p.m. to 7:30 or 8 p.m., you may find that some shops vary slightly with shorter lunch breaks and ealier closing.
Florence offers some of the best shopping in all of Italy. Enticing travellers from all over the world, Florence has a multitude of shops, hand made crafts, alta moda boutiques, silver, gold and precious stones, fabrics, leather and gastronomical delights. If your looking for something unique Florence has a wealth of choice and can suit all budgets. The centre of Florence and surrounding area offer numerous markets, the main high street has a good selection of specialty boutiques including handmade shoes andand handmade paper!

Borgo Ognissanti – Via de’ Fossi - Via Maggio
Florence's annual Antique fair is hosted here. The event last for a week and dealer offer goods from the Renaissance to modern times. A good place for furnishings, furniture and paintings.
Oltrarno - Ponte Vecchio
The 'Old Bridge' was home to tanners and butchers in the 16th century and now offers boutiques and jewelry shops.
Via delle Vigna Nuova - Via Tornabuoni
If your looking for designer brand names look no further than these 2streets. You will find designer boutiques such as Prada, La Perla, Hermes and Gucci, plus many more. If your looking for bargains watch out for the seasonal sales which offer huge discounts.
Santa Croce
The leather school is located in a Church in Santa Croce and is also well known for its leather shops. Here you will also find unique boutiques, where you watch tradesmen at work.
Markets
Mercato dei Pucci
A daily flea-market offering treasures to be found in what may look like junk. The piazza that surrounds the Mercato dei Pucci hosts a flea market and antique fair every two weeks.
Mercato delle Cascine
Venture to the green of Casine Park on a Tuesday morning and you will find the Mercato dell Cascine. This market is used more by the locals, selling fresh fruit and vegetables and small household items.
Mercato Nuovo
Mercato Nuovo was known as the Straw Market or Mercato del Porcellino, due to selling straw goods such as hats, baskets and chairs. Now it is a good place for buying bags, scarves and tourist items.
Mercato San Lorenzo
Mercato San Lorenzo is one the most famous and oldest markets in Florence. Along with an indoor food market, where locals frequent for their fresh produce, the market offers goods ranging from bags to leather shoes, paper goods to to ceramics and clothing. The indoor market is open mondays to saturday 7am to 2pm and offers meat fruit and vegetables, bakery and flowers.
Mercato Sant’Ambrogio
Open daily Mondays through Saturdays 8:00 am until 2:00 pm, the Mercato Sant'Ambrogio is a small market used by locals and is not so tourist orientated. A covered market with small shops and delicatessens, butchers, bakeries and fishmongers.
