Fortezza da Basso    The Fortezza da Basso was built on the outskirts of a medieval city and is now a major exhibition centre in Florence. Built by the Sangallo family in 1534, this is a great example of Florentine fortresses and was one of the first Italian 'citadels'. The fortress was never once attacked and has remained intact to this day. In the centre of the great square, inside the fortress, the pavillion has many ancient buildings, currently being restored, surrounding it. These include the Arsenal, Theatrino Lorense and the Palazzo delle Nazioni. You will find many great Florentine exhibitions and fairs held here, from the International Craft Fair to International Exchange of Congress Tourism, Pitti Immagine to Eurocamper.
