Lucca Lucca is located 30km northeast of Pisa and 85km west of Florence. Lucca, a relatively small town, is known as one of the richest areas in Tuscany for tradition, culture and history. Lucca is enclosed by monumental Renaissance walls, which date back to the 15th century, and with in these walls there is one of the most ancient and unique Etruria towns. In the centre of the town is the Duomo of San Matino, and not to be missed is the Piazza Anfiteatro, a selection of medieval buildings whose foundations are the arches of a Roman amphitheatre. Also not to be missed is the Casa Guinigi of which the adjoining tower has trees growing on top of it! Lucca not only has a magnitude of museums and historical monuments to see, with in the hills above the town are some of the most historically and captivating homes in Tuscany.
