Museo di San Marco The Museum of San Marco is worth seeing just for its splendid architecture alone. Once a former Dominican convent, it was enlarged and restored by Michelozzo under the sponsership of Cosimo the Elder de'Medici. The library has one of the finest interiors of the Renaissance and much of the building is preserved as a 15th century convent. The museum holds works of famous artists including frescoes by Fra Angelico, and paintings by the 16th century artist Fra Bartolomeo. The museum holds fragments of architecture and sculptures that were destroyed in the city centre back in the 19th century. Open: Tuesday to Sunday 8.15am-6.50pm Price: 6,50 Telephone: +39 0552 388608 Email: museosanmarco@tiscali.it
