Palazzo Medici Riccardi Michelozzo built the Palazzo Medici Riccardi between 1444 and 1464, and was enlarged by the Riccardi family a couple of centuries later. The building is a fine example from the Renaissance period with solid, graduated stonework, and the exterior was the prototype for the Palazzo Strozzi and the Palazzo Pitti. Just off from the courtyard you will find the Cappella dei Magi, the oldest chapel to survive from a private Florentine palace. The walls are covered in beautiful frescoes showing the Journey of the Magi by Benozzo Gozzoli. Another area of the palace has a 17th century loggia you will find the freco Apotheosis of the Medici Dynasy by Luca Giordano. The palace now plays host to temporary exhibitions.
