Santa Maria Novella Church The Santa Maria Novella Church was constructed by two Dominican monks in 1246. The church was finished in 1360 under the direction of Brother Iacopo Talenti. The outstanding facade was remodeled by Leon Batista Alberti between 1456 and 1470. The church interior is the shape of a Latin cross incorporating three naves and vaulted arches. The Basilica bosts a wealth of art works including Brunellaschi, Masaccio and Giotto. You will also find stunning frescoes by Paolo Uccello, in the famous Chiostro Verde,and Domenico Ghirlandaio's Frescoes representing episodes of Virgin Mary's and St.John the Baptist's lives.
