The Pitti Palace The Pitti Palace was formerly host to all the ruling dynasties, the Medici's, Lorraine's, Bourbon's, Bonapartes and Savoy's. The Italians are reluctant to call it the Royal Palace due to their tendancy for understatement. Filippo Brunelleschi was commissioned to carry out the design of the building in 1440, and you can see his idea of what a Renaissance palace should look like. The palace has three entrances, three floors and a balcony runs across the facade, linking the windows. A loggia was built under the roof for appearances. There are a few galleries and museums currently housed in the Pitti Palace: Gallery Palatina and Royal Apartments Cenacolo of Ognissanti Museo degli Argenti Museo delle Porcellane Galleria del Costume Giardini di Boboli
